This may sound a little weird, but there are some cartridges that are as ugly as all get out to me. Some wreak of ugly. In fairness, there are those that are "handsome".
My Ugly list:
.22 Hornet
.22 savage hi-power
.25-35 WCF
.300 H&H magnum
My "handsome" list:
.240 Weatherby Magnum
.257 Roberts Ackley Improved
7mm/08 Remington
.300 Savage
Must be in the "shoulder". I notice that the frumpy cartridges all have sloping shoulders, and the smart looking ones all have a defined shoulder.
Anyway, I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so does anyone else find themselves giving a cartridge the thumbs up (or down) based on its looks?
One final thought. Just so you know that I am not shallow, I have overcome the first impression I had of the .22 Hornet, and it is now one of my favorite cartridges to shoot.

You're right hoser, I have been locked up in the house too long. It has been colder than a mother in law's heart around here for a week. My joints don't do cold weather.
Looking forward to spring. Hopefully will get a chance to do some fishing.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, the 300 Savage looks quite racy loaded with a long seated Berger VLD. Sorry the 99 shooters can't enjoy it, but I'm shooting a 700 Classic.
