Well guys I'm down to the bottom of my can of IMR 4350. Been using this powder for many, many years and it has been my goto powder for the 270 but quite frankly I've grown tired of my Redding measure chompin' on those logs.

Over the years I've been satisfied with other powders but have decided to go in a new direction and look at Hunter.

How does it flow, consistancy, bridging, any CRUNCH!!! ????

Favorite bullet out of my old fwt. is the 160 partition but I just got a box of 140 TSX for free and want to try them as well.

TIA,284

Hunter pretty much flows like water. It's a fine-grained ball powder and works very well in the .270.

What's been said already. Meters perfectly, and gives great performance. Once I started using a powder measure and Ramshot ball powder and short extruded powders, my remaining IMR powder, wound up in the flower bed.

I agree, the Ramshot powders are great when metering. I haven't tried Hunter in the 270. I also very much like the Reloders' for metering and performance, especially Re 19 in my 270, 280, and 30-06s. I haven't tried Re 17 in the 270 yet, but see no reason why it wouldn't work well. It worked well in the 25-06 and 7 WSM.

Hey JB, do you use standard or magnum LR primers with your Ramshot loads?

It seems Ramshot Hunter would be a good fit for the .270 Win. and just maybe the .25-06. Just wondering if anyone has any info on these calibers. I generally shoot {always} 150s in the .270 and 115-120s in the .25-06. What I mean by info is, using Hunter powder. Thanks guys& shoot straight.

As I already noted here, Hunter works great in the .270. Ramshot's own data lists 55.3 grains as max with a Sierra 150.

It works fine with 100's in the .250-06, but the Ramhot powder for 115-120 grain bullets in the .25-06 is Magnum. Around 60 grains is maximum in their data, for around 3100+ fps. This is the load I use with 120 Partitions in my own .25-06, a muzzle velocity of around 3150 fps and very fine accuracy.

In general magnum primers produce better accuracy with Ramshot powders in any case from the .22-250 up.

I've been using Ramshot Hunter in my .25-284 for a while now. Seems to burn just like Re-19.
If you are looking for data, try Ramshot's website. Or you can simply use the starting loads for Re-19 and see how that works for you. E

I'd love to try some, but everybody is out of stock. AArrgh!! Hopefully the hoarding will stop, manufacturers will catch up, and it will start showing up in stores again.

But Pepe, the hoarding is not only making our country stronger and better protected, but it is also strengthening our position as gun people by discouraging interested newcomers from joining our ranks due to lack of availability - wait a minute, that can't be helping us. Best, John

Seems like Hunter has a slight velocity edge over IMR 4350. Never did push that envelope but free is free.

How can I hoard powder if everybody keeps beating me to it? It's kind of like musical chairs, somebody gets a shipment in and the frenzy is on.

I use hunter in my Browning A-Bolt 30-06 . Very accurate with the Hornady SST 165 GR .
