Tore my good duck waders last weekend trying to get onto a little steelhead stream. Some swearing for sure. While they are patched and good to go, I will need something for summer fishing.

Local shop pushes the Simms brand mighty hard. Cary that and Cloudveil. Guy said the Simms warranty is awesome and Cloudveil fits weird.

I am wondering if they are worth the $$ as Sportsman's is going under - a guy might score a decent Hodgman's for 1/3 the price of Simms.

I have Simms G3's and while great waders i would not pay the coin, they were a gift. If it were me I would be looking at the Orvis Pro Guides, just as good and cheaper.

I have never tried the hodgmans, always Simms and Patagonia's for me, but did get a pair of the pro guides for $150 about a year ago and relly like them

I'm getting ready to buy a set of chest waders in the next month or two. I'm going with the Simms Headwater (stocking foot). I'm basing my decision on not only the design features and construction, but also their excellent reputation for customer service, AND because they're made in Montana and not overseas.

Cabelas sells 'em, and I plan to use a triple points coupon and some of my Visa points. BTW, I recently visited a Sportsmans that's closing, and was NOT impressed with the shopping experience. Basically a very poor selection, only a 10% off sale on most items, and lots of customers to trip over while searching for a hidden deal somewhere. The sales might get better as they get more serious about clearing out the stores. I won't be going back to find out however.

I been going into our closing Sportsman's a couple of times a week since the announcement. NOW they are getting more serious. 40% off much, even marked guns off. Still have to shop and check to make sure you are buying something you really WANT and NEED and it is actually cheap.

I like my Simms waders. I bought one of the last close-outs on the previous version of the "Guide" wader. So far, they've held up great. I had been using Dan Bailey's. Not bad, but I thought they developed a leak around the booty seams a little too quick. As far as Simms warranty, they are do not have a lifetime guaranty. I think it boils down to how the shop wants to deal with it, more often than not. However, if you buy your waders from Cabelas, regardless of brand, and keep your receipt, they'll exchange them anytime. So you sort of backdoor your way into a lifetime warranty. I've also heard good things about the Patagonia waders and the Orvis waders, both have a lifetime warranty.

If anybody is interested I have a pair of Simms G4 pros in size medium that my son grew out of. One year of use and I'll sell for $200. They're used; but, they are 60% off the price of a new pair.
