Going back to the first time I saw one at a gunshop, it stood out from the rest of the 22 rimfires of the time, precisely because it looked like a "real rifle", by comparison. Feels like one too. Pressed checkering, or not. :O)
Got to enjoy some laughs over the years, as these things appreciated in price and others tried to pry mine away from me for next to nothing. Every now and then another shooter would look it over and ask if it was for sale. Said sure, make me an offer.
One guy offered $100 for it when I was at the range and he asked to see it, after jabbering about how nice it felt. Told him to triple his offer and we'd start a proper haggle. He put it down, laughed and said he wished I hadn't been keeping track of such things.
