On April 1, hunters in Germany start the new season each year.
The month of April in our woods is dedicated to:

- checking stand structures to prevent accidents
- pre season scouting for roe bucks
- qualification shooting on the Roe Buck Target at 100 meters (110 yards)

Roe season for bucks and yearling does starts May, 1st.

The buck will have rubbed till then.

Just curious, is the qualification shooting done offhand or with a rest?

So, how common are those Roe bucks with the target grids on them?

How much is the trophy fee for them?

Hey, I need all the help I can get! smile

Qualification is shot either standing, resting the support hand against a surrogate tree or sitting, like you would from a tree stand.

The targets are standard by DJV (Deutscher Jagdschutz Verband), the german hunter association. Unless you come over 8x magnification in a scope, the grid is not visible.

Las,

my hunts are conducted as packages. I do not do trophy fees. I like to put the emphasis on the hunt. One should plan for 5 - 7 days of hunting, with up to 5 species possible. A roe deer / wild boar combo is the most common. PM for prices.

Morning take May 2006 - three happy hunters.

And yes, I just now understood the joke about the target grid... blush
