After quite a few years of not doing any bow hunting, I got the itch to try it again and have been out practicing with my old (1974 vintage) Hoyt recurve. It's a 62" 53# bow, and I want to use it again this year. Am doing well with it to about 30 yards.

Bought an eastern Washington elk tag. Hoping to draw for a cow permit.

I need some new broadheads. Mine are ancient Bear Razorheads that have seen better days. What do you think, two blades? Three? Four? Looking at those Magnus broadheads...

Thanks, Guy

Crimson Crocs (if they still make them) get them in 125 gr size. There is a donut weight that they put on the back were you screw into the arrow. Remove that and it will be 107 grains. The reason is the cutting diameter is bigger but it only weighs 7 more grains.

Yep they still do. I also like the magnus products as well. I cant say nothing about Magnus because Ive never shot them. The crimson crocs did shoot well in my Switchback.

If you look at the pic of them you can see the weight in the back of the broadhead.

Well, if you're going for elk, and using 53#, you really should look into a cut on contact head, and stay away from replaceable blade heads. The Magnus Stinger is a great choice. Some others are STOS, Eclipse,Zwickey Eskimos, and Grizzly's.And learn how to sharpen them.Grizzly's are the hardest to learn to sharpen, but they are a dang good head if you can.

Since you're looking at Magnus, I'd lean towards the Stingers, either 2 blade or with bleeders.

Stick with the Bear Razorheads. They can't be that bad, and they don't get any better. Especially the green ones.
