As the topic says: I am looking for a one piece weaver base for a Marlin 1894, preferably from steel, not aluminum.
Ideas where to get it?
Thanks,

I've been looking for over a year now but for an 1895 LTD. No luck. The closest I've come is a two piece set from Warne but they're "sintered" steel which I'm not interested in.

In basic terms sintered steel is "powdered" steel which is heated then compressed into form. Probably just fine, just don't care for it for personal reasons.

Glen Seekins offered to do a custom mount for me a while back and while I never asked for cost I can imagine it'll be somewhat higher than what you could buy one "off the shelf" for. That said the Seekins crew does outstanding work and their products are well worth the money. If they're not too busy to entertain custom jobs at this point I am still considering calling them for this project.

Don't know where to get a steel one. Just curious, why not the aluminum Weaver base? I've used them on some fairly hard kickers with no problems.

I have 2 sets of the aluminum Leupold 1 piece mouts and my fav's are made by B-Square, also aluminum, fit's 336, 1894 & 1895 and have multiple cross slots for more mounting options. I use both QRW and warne qd rings and they reliably return to zero. Aluminum is fine. I also have 1 set of Warne 2 piece bases in steel that are fine too, but I like the multi slot aluminum mouts much better.

Obviously can't speak for cyclone but my own reasons are nothing more than personal preference.

In my background I have more than a couple decades of working in both steel and aluminum in a variety of grades and applications. What I've learned from personal experience about the characteristics of both materials edges my preference to steel.

Nothing more than that. smile
