I like it! Do not believe you will ever regret this move. Will be interested to hear how it shoots. What twist does it have?

I plan on shooting cast bullets though it, so I requested a 14Twist.

I'm familiar with the Lyman 358009 but was wondering what mould the 240 gr. came from.

A 14 twist is a good all purpose choice too for the 35whelen IMO.

the 240gr bullet is one from a custom mould I had made at Old West Bullet Moulds.

If you want a copy, just call them up and tell them you want the Darrell Steenwyk 358009 flat point mould. He now has the cherry in stock so no cherry fee is required for that bullet.

Cast bullets becasue they are cheaper and I can make all I want.

I also got a slower twist barrel so I could shoot cast bullets at a higher velocity.

Plus I can push a cast bullet to jacketed bullet velocity with no problems.

So far it shoots very well.

I miss wrote on the target, it's a 280gr bullet. I chronoed it at 1930fps

I'm testing a 180gr cast bullet and so far my starting load is at 2400fps and all looks good. I'll be trying for higher velocity and accuracy on that load next.
