I just bought a 1953 vintage 39a. I was shooting it this weekend, and was wondering if the ejector should be throwing the empties out, or dribbling them out? Most seem to fall out weakly and end up in a pile near my right foot, as opposed to 3 or 4 feet out. Is this typical?
I was having issues with double feeding, but then tightened the screw for the magazine cutoff and it works fine, now. The PO must have let it work loose.

Normal ejection is what you should be seeing, that does not mean weak ejection.
First things first. A complete dis assembly and cleaning of all the internal parts. Look closely at the ejector and ejector spring. Next reassemble and test fire, if the problem continues, look for a new ejector and spring.

Brownells should have any replacement parts you may need.
