Last week, I sold a box of 38-55s to a mid 70s man who still hunts w/a Marlin 1894, 38-55 rifle, 24" half-half bbl; crescent butt, straight stock, still good bluing left on it. Bore very clean. Not D&T'd. He bought it back in the early 60's for $40.00. #300,0xx. He doesn't know what year made and neither do I. Any info appreciated. He's not selling !!

Dom would be 1904, but would be an 1893 instead if in .38-55. There was a grade B with a different barrel roll stamp marked "For Black Powder" with a blued receiver, otherwise "Special Smokless Steel" would be for the regular Rifles with cased receivers. 24" was a normal rifle length with the range running 20, 24, 26, 28, 30, and even 32" Standard was 26" and I dont see a half and half listed just either or but could have been and I just have not find reference of it yet till now. Hope this helps.

M.B.:

Thank You for the info. I was thinking of my Mdl.94,25-20
rifle, half-half bbl, crescent butt, strait stock, that looks like the 93. Barrel had Special Smokeless Steel on it. When I see him again,I'll tell em the year. Thanks for the help...

I just bought a Marlin model 75c with the squirrel on the stock. Is this a good gun? I have a Marlin 60 that I love. the 75c feels real good too! Any comments or advise is appreciated!

I see you are new to the forum. May give you some pointers ...

Don't hijack (jump in and change the subject) another person's thread. It's impolite and makes the data less useful for those who are searching for the original topic.

Also, choose the best forum for the topic. "Marlin Talk", is part of leveraction central. The model 60 and it's varients are not lever actions. Generally, you'll find rimfires as a whole tend to have a different path of interest than centerfires. You'll get better results on the rimfire forum you'll find further up the list.

If you'll follow me up to the rimfire forum, I'll be glad to give you my opinion of the glenfield up there.
