Curious how black looks with the gray color of the Montana Stock.. Anybody have a pic? Or do I need to super pimp the rifle and have the stock painted too?

I dropped a black SA Rem 700 action into the stock just to see how the colors matched up.. IMO it looks like a utility killing rifle. I'm going to have someone cerakote the bbl'd action black and leave the stock the same.

utility killing rifle....really like the sound of that!! Will look good IMO...I would do it.
You ever see those pics from guys out hunting the backcountry? Their posing next to their kill with their rifle. The rifle stock is synthetec and beat up with scratches and dings. The action is wet from the snow. The scope bell has snow scooped up in it. The whole picture has that "bring it on" look! Thats what your rifle looks like to me....I really like that look! Don't mind me I'm just another one of those rifle looneys grin

Okie-how do you like the CDS turret? Did it come on the scope or did you send it to leupold to have it retrofitted?

I don't see how a guy could hunt the mountains hard and have a rifle that he could sell on the classifieds without a major markdown. I was over at a pards house last week and his rifle was sitting out. It looked like it had been dragged behind a vehicle for a few miles on a rocky road it was so beat up. But then you looked at his walls and they were full of dall sheep, mtn goat, alaskan elk, ak moose, and big mountain buck mounts.

The action stayed smooth, but you can feel the coating. The bolt still falls to the rear when you open it and tilt the barrel up. Doesnt bother the function or distract me when I operate the bolt.

As for the turret on top, I sent it to Leupold. It was just a plain old VX-III 3.5X10. Very quick turn around I might add. I liked it so much I have 2 more I'm sending them after the killin slows a bit.

My Kimber looks like I sent her to Stick for a barrel break-in session. Don't own a safe queen. I like the looks of that black in the factory stock.
