Seems to me Browning used the best features from a Model 12(BPS receiver looks like a M12) and a model 37 (bottom ejection) and added the tang safety to make it just about the perfect pumpgun.
I`ve used them all and the Browning just suits me the best.

There is a 37 ultralight at a store I frequent.

Boy howdy is it light and swings nicely.

The tag even claimed it is unfired.
