im trying to figure out if i want to get 210gr barnes tipped tsx or the 225gr for my 338 win mag. ill be using them for elk and moose and i know that either one will work great for both elk and moose but i want to know if the 210gr will fly alot flatter than the 225gr. any info would be great. thanks.

I would go with the 210 because you will have a greater distance at which the retained velocity will be high enough for reliable expansion. I doubt the trajectories are significantly different. I personally know that they are certainly sufficient to the task of big bull elk, and my understanding is that moose are not any harder to kill.

I shoot the 338RUM and I run the 185s. I wouldn't hesitate sending one out at any of those critters you mentioned. They would run a bit faster out of a 338 than the 210s but either of those would do the job also. HAPPY HUNTING

Dont mess around with un-reliable solids, just use the 225gr Accubond and be done. B

Try the TSX and the TTSX, 185-210-225 gr, and hunt with the one that shoots the best. Any of them will kill things very nicely, or at least the TSX's do out of my .338 Fed and .338 RCM . Dennis

my understanding is that moose are not any harder to kill. Moose go down easier than Elk, although heavier than Elk they are thin skinned like a Deer and drop quite easily. B

Dennis If you dont like the 225gr Accubond then step-up to the Mother-of-all (to date)338 bullet's and shoot the 300gr SMK. not 1 failure from rockchuck past 2000yds to Moose past 1000yds. sorry if you cant handle it Dennis B

Rockchucks at 2000 with a 338 winmag? And you recovered the bullet to see that it expanded properly? Moose at 1000 yards? TROLL ALERT! MORON ALERT!!! MORON ALERT!!!!
I am calling BULL POOP! on that last one for sure for sure.
What a WHOPPER!
IF one DID tip over a moose from 1,000 yards out, it was still a stupid and unsportsmanlike stunt and it is only on luck that the moose (hopefully) was killed relatively quickly.

I use the 225 Grain TSX in my 338 Win and it has worked to perfection for me. The 225 grain TTSX has a lower minimum velocity for expansion than do other wieghts and calibers. 1400 FPS is the minimum fr the 225 grain TTSX
I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

Back to the OP question. I had a 200gr X fail to give me an exit on a broadside Eland so went to 225's, now TTSX's, but the 210's might be fine on Elk and normal sized moose. Have not tried them on this class of game. 210's should be just fine and then some. Not that much velocity lost going from 210 to 225, if speed is an issue (like it is for me) step up to a 338 RUM or WBY (like I did ) Good luck and good hunting

You are ever so correct...we've gotten another one. Or one of the other ones with a different registry. In any event -- I now have nothing to say to him, 'cause there ain't no point to wasting effort... Dennis

I'd see if the 210gr Swift Scircco II will shoot well in your rifle..

The 210gr TSX's have worked very well out of my 338-06's.
I can't imagine a little more velocity not making them even better. If they don't shoot try the 225's.

Try the TSX and the TTSX, 185-210-225 gr, and hunt with the one that shoots the best. Dennis 10-4. Any one of them will make an elk or moose VERY sick - neither will know the difference in bullet weight either.
