I was wondering if anybody in the Mat-su valley ever had anything done here. They want $150 to coat a barreled action.
Thanks for any responses Doug

Thanks. I was going to redo my dad's gun and thought about them as they are just up the road from where I work.

I know they do a LOT of snowmachine parts and get a lot of praise for their work. Call Steve Untiet @ Alaska Custom Firearms, I know he does rifle coating too, 349-4867.
That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

Thanks. I was hoping to find someone in the mat-su valley. Does anyone deal with M&M machining & custom guns in Palmer?
Thanks Doug

I Have nearly four decades with Robar and have no complaints with their work. You are turning over a valuable firearm, I just don't trust anyone I don't know to do the work, one hundred percent.

Kevin White of Precision Custom Rifles is the guy, but I don't have a number or web site.
I talked to him a while back at a show and got his new number... I'll have to dig it up. I haven't had anything coated by him, but have seen his work on a friend's rifle, and was impressed.

I'm with ya 3sixbits, I have three rifles done with Robar. The loaner 30/06 is over 10 years old and has only a couple dings. Even though it's hunted 120-160 days a year. Robar will smooth the action like you cannot believe and it's as tough as anything you can apply to metal.

The Robar companies finish is great, but it isn't as durable as Cerakote. I have had both NP3 and Rogard done. They look better but Cerakote is tougher. The only thing tougher would be a ferritic carbo-nitrided finish like a Glock has or a straight up Nitride surface finish.- both of which require a LOT of heat.

Kevin White coated a 1911 frame for me and it turned out very good.
I have a couple setups to get coated. Kevin will get the work.
His number is 360-1694

You can get a can of rustoleum for $5. Any tips on how you use it? Or do you just "blow and go?" Saw these at Wally World over the weekend.. It was either $4.99 or $5.99 a can (Anchorage, Dimond/Old Seward Store) http://www.rustoleum.com/CBGProduct.asp?pid=354Curious as to how it holds up. I was debating getting a can of the Olive or Khaki color to lightly "mist" my rifle. I am more concerned with just dulling the finish rather than rust protection.... Might use it to dull a few other pieces of my gear as well.... Seems like a cheap option (even cheaper than the camo tape/cling I have seen. Does it scratch off easy? What about the Krylon paint? How does it rate compared to the Rustoleum? http://www.krylon.com/products/camouflage_paint_with_fusion_technology/Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
