Gents,

My timing might be bad on this as I've seen other scopes like this listed lately, but I just bought a Ruger #1V in .22-250 from another Campfire member, and I need a scope with more magnification.

This is a nib MATTE finished Leupold 1.75x6-32mmE, with a standard duplex reticle. It has not been mounted on a rifle...
$340 shipped/insured.

Also interested in trading up for a similar condition LEUPOLD (only) 4.5x14x40mm with duplex or varmint reticle.

What the scope is worth makes a difference even if it is new in the box.

The Vari-X line of either II or III is an old discontinued line. The new line "VX" either VX-II or VX-III is different, so first off are you talking about the older Vari-x line or the newer VX line?

One of the most important differences is that the VX-III has indexed matched lens. The VX-IIs essentially have the same lens coatings as the old Vari-X III. MultiCoat 4. Hence, they are pretty darn good. The VX-III takes it one step further by index matching the lenses for improved performance.

its obvious by the pictures thats its the older variX-III. duh!
see the picture of the box witht the words variX-III?
and since you brought it up there is no current VX-III...
its a VX-3, now.
the vx-3 is over $400.

As long as the variety is accounted for, and as the picture clearly shows the scope is indeed a E version (extended front tube) Vari X, and the description is clearly NIB, then age shouldn't be significant. I believe that was Ringworm's opinion. The opinion could have been a bit more respectfully stated, but the facts are correct.

By the way, this is a very good scope. I own more of the 2.5-8 variety, but the 4 or 5 1.75-6s I own are very fine scopes. Very high quality optics, compact, and light. I especially like the old short tube models which I believe are gloss only, they just look cool!

ringworm-
Since you've chosen, yet again, to highjack a classified, I think the question was relevant because many of the VariX III's were FRICTION rather than click adjust, hence, it's possible that's what the poster was arriving at.

shotgunjock - sorry to piggy up your ad.
Nice scope, and, a fair price.

Anyone have specs for the E model. Might fit nicely on my CZ 550FS 9.3.

I have owned several VariX III's that were friction adjustment.

Not sure when the change came...80's ??

I'm thinking the E models were click....but not entirely sure.

Regardless, a great scope.

I wouldn't shy away from a Vari-XIII because it's friction adjustment. I have a few M8 6x42's with friction adjustments that are awesome scopes. Adjustments are precise and infinitely adjustable. If a scope is non-fingertip adjustable, I don't see why it matters once it's sighted-in.

Just my .02.

Gents,

Take it easy, I've been out of town at the SCI convention in Reno.

I bought the scope from Bear Basin Outfitters in 2002 (I believe). It was intended for a .338-06 on an FN Mauser that I was building, but a divorce got in the way.

I'll check out the serial number, and also check the reciept and post that information. I was unaware that some Luepold vari-xIII models had friction adjustments. I though all of the III's had click adjustments... Learn something new everyday!!!

Ok,

It's a "C" letter post-fix.
It has click type adjustments.
