ANSCHTZ RIFLES: BOLT ACTION, DISC.
Sile Distributors located in NY acted as an import agent during the early 1960s which can be identified by Sile barrel markings. Savage imported Anschtz rifles were available from 1963-1981 and also have Savage/Anschtz barrel markings. While some of those models might not be listed below, refer to models of similar caliber and quality that are listed to ascertain values. During the period when Savage was importing Anschtz rifles, certain models in the Anschtz line were designated either "Savage-Anschtz" or "Anschtz-Savage" for sales by Savage in the U.S. Conversely, certain models manufactured by Savage were designated "Anschtz-Savage" for sale by Anschtz in Europe. Some of these models did not have any modifications but others were restocked, supplied with different sights, and had other different features from their original counterparts. In most cases, the original model numbers were used. Some "Anschtz-Savage" rifles have made their way into the U.S. While somewhat rare, these rifles are typically based on the Savage Model 110 action. They are not as desirable as those "Savage-Anschtz" marked rifles utilizing the superior Anschtz actions. Anschtz also manufactured between 1,000-2,000 rifles utilizing SAKO actions in .222 Rem. cal. in the late 50s-early 60s. These guns will approximate values shown on the discontinued centerfire models listed below. Currently, Anschtz offers 3 different actions. The 1451 action is Anschtzs entry level action, which is lightweight in design, utilizes cam cocking, and has a lateral sliding safety. The 1451 action is currently used in the Models 1451 D KL, 1451 R Sporter Target, and 1451 Target. The Match 64 utilizes a cam cocking system with claw extractor and ejector, grooved receiver, and sliding safety on the right side behind the bolt. The Model 64 match action is used on the Model 1416 and variations, 1418, 64MP R, 1516, 1517 D Classic, 1517 D HB Classic, 1517 D Monte Carlo, 1517 M PR, and the Model 64 Target pistol. The Match 54 is Anschtzs top-of-the-line action, and features dual locking lugs on the bolt which are seated eccentricaly in the receiver, allowing more support for improved stock bedding. It also features a cam cocking bolt, 2 position pivot rear safety, and is drilled and tapped. The Match 54 action is currently utilized on the 1710 series, 1712D, 1717, 1720, 1730 series, 1733, and 1740 models. The models below have been listed in numerical sequence.

Model 54 actions use a bolt stop on the left hand side of the receiver. Model 64 actions use the trigger as a bolt stop.

If it has a wing type safety, then it's a Match54, or 1400 series rifle. If it has a slider safety, then its 1800 series or later. 1500 and 1700 series rifles are sporters, not match rifles.

The XX(14,18,19)11 series rifles are for prone shooting. The forends are about standard target rifle wide, but not really deep. I don't think they came stock with butt hooks. I'm pretty sure the 1411s did not have adjustable cheekpieces. 1811 and up may.

The XX13 are the free rifles. BIG, HUGE, full forends. Takes a degree to perform all the adjustments at the butt on the 1800 series on up. and the 1413 is no slouch either.

The XX07 rifles are standard rifles. Didn't come from the factory with butt hooks. Very deep, but very narrow forends. Look at the McMillan 40X course rifle stock for an idea of what they look like.

Cosmetically "not pretty" older match 54s go for $300-$500, depending. Of course I'm not looking for them in pawn shops either. The sights, if still in good tight condition, are worth something as well, but I think $150 might be overstating it.

And the blue book prices T LEE posted are kind of off on the value of 1807s and 1407s. Again, the action alone is probably worth $250 and the 1807s are worth more than the 1407s, not less.

XX03 series rifles are built on the Model 64 action. So a used 1403 rifle isn't worth a whole lot...

I also just did a google search for images of Anschutz 1411,1413, etc... and there are plenty of them out there. That should get you going.

Scott
