I'm looking at a rifle in 9.3x62. Anyone have experience with the Tikka T3 Battue? I'm especially interested in the quality and effectiveness of the open sights that come standard on the rifle.
Cheers, Rath

Rath,
I had a Battue configuration in the Tikka model that preceeded the T3. I actually bought the rifle for its carbine configuration and detachable box magazines and converted it to scout configuration with a forward mount scope.
I did try the iron sights before taking them off the barrel, and I recall that the configuration insured you would shoot high in the field (if you brought the front post up to be visible in the rear notch you were too high).
I don't know if the T3 model uses those sights, but you might look for that...jim

Did CZ stop making their Battue?

I missed out on one of those on Gunbroker a year or so ago. It was a .30-06 and the price was right.

Thanks for the info on the CZ, I did not know they made a Battue, I have a feeling that it might be special order here in Australia and I really would prefer a synthetic stock (purely for practicality over aesthetics). here is a picture of the Tikka Battue lite: and the truglo standard sights: Rath

Anyone on this forum own this rifle? Any feedback on felt recoil from a 9.3x62 in a 3kg rifle?
Thanks, Rath

Thanks, Rath I do not have a 9.3/T3 but I do own a 3.4kg 9.3 with a 18.5" barrel. Recoil(286gr) can be felt, but it's certainly allot nicer on the shoulder than my 338WM shooting 210's. More of a push than a sharp whack. Limbsaver do a recoil pad with a perfect 'screw-on' fit. Get one, IMO. Enjoy
