Beef ain't got nutt'n on mutton.

I'd take beef hemorrhoid over that gristly mutton stew. Did I mention that the flat bread was great. That Navajo reservation was the most impoverished place I've ever visited.

The problem is what is sold as "mutton"...You need to have a chat with a quality butcher and he should be able to source good mutton. Alternatively, buy it live from the farm and kill it yourself.

Just taking a chance at a play on words. Actually, I prefer beef to mutton too, but not to a nice young lamb. I place them about even.

Mutton and goat are both good meat, very similar to wild venison. Most people that have an aversion is because they have not experienced properly butchered and prepared meat.

For some Lamb Shanks to die for take the shanks and brown them in a little olive oil then add enough canned tomatoes to come up half way on the shanks. Add some chopped onion and garlic. If you can find some Cavenders Greek seasoning add 1 1/2 Tablespoons to the tomatoes and turn heat down to simmer. Cover and simmer for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours. Check evey once in a while to make sure it isn't burning on the bottom and to turn the shanks over. The lamb will just about fall off the bone when done. Cook some white rice and serve the shanks and tomatoes over the rice. Enjoy!

A real tasty and rich hambuger can be made by mixing ground lamb and ground beef.
