I've never attemted this before, but is it possible to rebore a 45/8" long .357 barrel for a Ruger Blackhawk to .44? I have a .357 Blackhawk barrel that I'd like to rebore to .44 and install on a .44 frame - if it's feasable. As I said, I've never attempted a project like this before. I appreciate any help I get!

Everything you now do is something you have chosen to do. Some people don't want to believe that. But if you're over age twenty-one, your life is what you're making of it. To change your life, you need to change your priorities.

I can recommend Delta Gun Shop/Clearwater Reboring without reservation. I have a Hamilton Bowen converted S&W pre-27 5" .44 Special, the barrel rebored by Clearwater it is easily the most accurate S&W that I own. They learned from the now retired Dean of Reborers Cliff LaBounty and do excellent work.

Thanks for the help. I had been considering shortening the barrel of a late production .44 flat top to 4 5/8-in, but was bothered by the fact the commemorative embossing on the top of the barrel would look oddly off-centered. I acquired a 4 5/8 .357 barrel that solved this problem, but obviously it needs to be rebored to .44. This may end up costing a bit more than cutting and recrowning, but I figured the revovler could always be returned to its original condition if I saved the original barrel. Again, thanks for your help and I'll check out Delta Gun Shop/Clearwater Reboring.

Al Seigrist does fine reboring as well. Dave Clements uses him and recommended him to me. He did a 38 WCF rebore for a custom Ruger Flattop I had built. Shoots beautifully.

I have been thinking about reboreing a Win Mod 95 in 30-06 to a 9.3x62..I am wondering what the turn around time is in the real world of reboring..I have heard so many horror tales of 1 and 2 years return..

You'll be dollars ahead just starting off with a new barrel blank.

Send the gun to Alan Harton in Houston and he will remove the barrel and send it out to be rebored, rechamber your cylinder and put it back together perfectly at a very fair price. He has done a lot of work for me including a handful of full blown customs. Here's the 38 WCF rebore Ruger Flattop I mentioned above that Alan built for me.

I also have three rifle rebores that Cliff LaBounty did for me and they are wonderfully accurate and saved me a bunch of money over a rebarrel as remounting if sights and a reblue was not required. One also had an full length ribbed octogon to round barrel that would have cost thousands to have made. He, like Jim Dubell and most others I believe, would do his rebores in batches by bore size. I got lucky on two (338-06 and 9.3x62) with a two month turnaround as they were coming next in his cycle. The other, a 35 Whelen took 5 months as I missed his cycle for the .358 bore.
