Anybody here using the "Steel Roundup" target from Do-All Traps?

I just got one to use as a "dueling post". Tried to use it yesterday and either I'm doing something wrong, or the thing just doesn't work.

INstructions say to shoot at no less than 30 yards. Even with the tension adjusted all the way down, the targets barely wiggle when hit at that distance with Remington bulk-pack Golden Bullets from my Buckmark.

So I moved up...and up...and up - to about 20 feet, before I could get any of them to flip to the other side. Still, at least half of them won't flip all the way over.

Can someone here tell me what I need to do to get this thing to work? Would hyper-velocity rounds make a big enough difference? Is the target effected by cold temps? (It was about 20�) Should I clean it an use some dry lube? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

You have the one with the 4 red /black and 4 black/red round targets? If you have either of the other two the 2X2 or the 3X3 they are set up for center fire handguns and I don't think a 22lr has enough striking energy, because of the weight of the bullet, to turn the plates. BTY the 2X2 is weighted for .38-.44 and the 3X3 is for 9MM stuff.
As far as lubrication goes if they are lubricated with a heavy grease the 20 deg. Temps could harden it enough to slow the swing down but I don�t think it would stop it all together. Clean the gunk off if it is there but if you don�t have the 4X4 tree only a larger caliber will help.

It's the 4x4. I'll be giving it a good cleaning and light lube before I take it out again.

be careful when stepping up that close to that thing. Most of those trees are for larger caliber guns as noted above. Getting closer runs the risk of splatter back.
