What ever happened to Elmer's fine collection of firearms? I remember in the early '90's there was talk of a museum to display is fine collection. His double rifle collection would be worth a small fortune today.

There is a small display of some of his guns and game trophy's in the Cabelas store in Boise. Memory not being what it once was I may be wrong but it seems they are on loan from the family. I also vaguely remember quite a number of years ago a model 70, 458 of his was auctioned off reason unknown. Haven't seen or heard anything on the rest of his collection.

From what I have heard through the grapevine, many of Keith's guns (including most of the doubles) were sold not long after he died, by one of the family.

I remember reading that not long before his death, one of his rifles was either sold to pay a Dr. Bill, or else given to the Dr. for payment.

IIRC, there are a number of his doubles at the Cabelas EK Museum.

Did that once myself.

Dr Owensby treated my parents without charge, so I gave him my .280 Remington, an Iver Henriksen custom Mauser with a high-quality 4x scope.

I don't recall how many doubles there were, but the collection at the EK museum at Cabella's in Boise, ID is impressive. Most of the famous six guns are there and many rifles.

My apologies for the quality of the pictures, it's tough to get good ones through glass.
