HI! I have a Mauser that has one of the (recently defunct) Charles Daly synthetic stocks on it. I really like the stock, but boy, that black-on-black is just boring as can be. I have been thinking about duracoating the metal, but then I started wondering if anyone here has doe this on a synthetic stock and if so, does it chip or flake off?

I've done a load of fiberglass stocks with Duracoat (Rimrock and Basners, splatter coated McMillians), but no injection molded stocks. I've also painted 2 wood stocks with Duracoat. It's been great on the fiberglass. I've used some of them a lot and never had chipping or peeling. Some I sold and didn't hunt with. I never used the wood ones. I've heard the injection molded stocks cause some problems with the paint sticking and that fusion is better to use....but I can't speak from experience on them. Hope this helps, JCM This one is wood and I did the metal on it as well.

I put auto trunk coating on a Vanguard stock and then used Brownell's spray paints to camo pattern it. But, it has chipped and scratched over the years, and it isn't the soft overmolded material either.
Just added this to give your topic a bump, because I wonder how well dura coat works too.
