We also fished south of you, around the Taupo region. The Tongariro, Ripa, Ngaruroro and Mohaka Rivers. The Ngaruroro was off the charts. I go bit by a fresh water eel, scared the he11 out of me when that thing latched on to me and did the death roll.... There are a couple of nice feesh in NZ... Last edited by HuntKY; 06/09/10. We had seen several eels throughout the the day while netting and releasing fish, of course we were told they never mess with you, bite etc. This one was approx 3 foot. Mike have you ever heard of anyone getting bit by the eels. The locals we were with had not and were taking pictures and laughing. I wasn't so much. Protect WYDAHO fish and game, fence out Utah.
