I have a Puma in 454 and would like to upgrade from the factory sights. I hunt deer mainly in NC, WVA, and PA. Would you recommend ghost ring or scope and which models? Thanks.

I had a Williams F.P. installed on mine. You may want to look at that setup. You have the option to adjust it if you need to.I can't picture a scope on mine and will never put one on it.
Sorry,I drank the Sako-Aid.My opinion may be biased. bh444

Thanks. You are right about the scope. It would take away from the quick handling and overall experience. Have you taken any game with the Puma?

I would also like to put a Williams on mine(Rossi 44 Mag, I believe they are all model 92 repros). 2 questions:
Do they make one that fits as is -, or drill and tap.
Do you have to change the front sight?
Mine shoots like a dream, but that straight slot rear sight would be tough in the woods.

The sight will have to be fitted(drilled and tapped). The shop I bought the rifle from did it for $40.The smith mounted it right over the bolt safety. The front blade on mine was the right hight for the sight.I wanted to change it to a F.O. Firesight but didn't.I put a dab of white auto touch-up paint on it and it stands out much better.

Thanks bh444,
Mine has no safety, just a 1/2 cock. I have heard before that it is a drill and tap thing, but was hoping for the best.
Thanks Again,

I have Puma in .44 mag and added a Marbles tang peep sight to it. The sight came with two aperatures.
Sight picture is quite good, and the only improvement I might make is to put a post with a 3/32" ivory bead on it. One other nice thing about the tang peep is that it fits in well with the style of the rifle.
I did find that a minor modification had to be made to the setup. As is the rifle wouldn't cock all the way as the base of the sight is just a wee-bit high ( although it was listed by Marbles as being specifically for the Puma ). Either the grind front of the base down 1/8" or bob the hammer by the same amount.
