Anyone run the XS sight system for their Marlin 336? How does it work? Any pictures? I handled a 336 today - stainless metal with walnut stock and 20" barrel. What a sweet handling rifle. I have scoped rifles and would look to stick with irons if I were to get one - one day. Thanks.

I put them on a 45-70, I like them.

The ghost ring and wide blade are not as precise as finer sights, but they are intended to be fast, and they are.

Yesterday I put three shots into 1" at 50 yards. The load was a 405gr soft point at 1500 fps.

The little windage lock screws on the rear sight were too short and soft when I had to move the rear sight way left during zeroing. Also they are made for a flat-head screwdriver. I tossed the factory screws and replaced them with a longer socket head screw, much better.

That sounds like a great idea. I've got a set of these sights on my 1894P and I found that if I used a screwdriver small enough to fit the screw that I couldn't tighten them up much at all before the tip of the screwdriver started to twist.

I have them on a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington,it is the perfect set up for deer or hogs in thick cover IMHO.

Size you need is #8-32. I went with a 1/8" on the port side, and 3/16" starboard since I have the rear sight almost all the way to the left. That gives full purchase the full length of the female threaded part of the sight base.
