All,

Just bought one (used, like new) on an impulse, and I would love to know what sort of quality scope I have just bought!
If anyone has an opinion on them (not the Bushnell 4200's - I have to assume the corporate weinies wouldn't pass up an opportunity to "cost evaluate" a product as it moved under their umbrella) please post it here.

As always, thanks in advance,
Kragman1

I have a 4-16x50 Bausch & Lomb 4000. It's a really nice scope. In my opinion , you have bought a fine reliable scope.

VERY good optics, never a problem w/many Elite's I have owned. The 6-24 has been as good as any I have used in resolution.

Enjoy.

Bushnell bought B&L. B&L has long been a maker of high quality lab optical instruments of all types, including medical. Some of our PC weinie doctors and hospitals told Bushnell they would buy Zeiss or Nikon optics if Bushnell continued to use the B&L label on them mean ol' gun sights. Faced with the loss of a huge part of the value of what they had purchased, Bushnell changed the maker labels and model numbers but the high quality remains the same as before.

Guess the medical wenies are sorta happy too; they "made a statement" which is a liberal's favorite passtime activity. (But they really don't want to talk about how many deaths result from quack doctors and lousy hospitals.)

Thanks all, especially Boomtube. I always wondered what was behind the "down branding" by Bushnell/B&L.

I had one. As others have said, very clear and tough, but I found the eye-relief too short for my 300 WM I was using for rockchucks.

On a 25-06 and 223, it was great.

The 4000 series of Bushnell scopes preceeded that 4200 series. Don't know all of the changes that went into the 4200's, but Rainguard was one of them.

Thanks again,

I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase now.
I hated to buy it knowing that I'll have to sell something in turn to pay for it, but it seems like I won't regret it.

I have a few of those scopes and think they're excellent. But it doesn't matter what other people say. Since you now have one you're in a real good position to judge for yourself.
