man you must be hunting some tough stuff if a conquest wont cut it! The 4 conquest scopes that I owned never gave me any trouble. I just prefer the Diavari and the AV over the Conquest.
You ain't about that life.

no problem there, i was just messin with ya! i have a diavari as well... optically, the diavari is awesome but overkill for most legal hunting situations however it is nice to look through if you have one! i always felt that most anything in the 250-500 price class will get you to the end of *legal* light. Obviously there are other thing important in a scope but going on brightness alone, i dont have a diavari (or a Z6, Z5, or Z3) because it will make me see deer in legal light that i wouldnt see with a conquest....if it does, it would be like 1 out of 100...I like it for other reasons.....

I just got done mounting the 4-12x50 AV on my 257 Roy, and I dont understand for the life of me how Swaro and Leupold can make scopes in trim/lightweight packages yet the Zeiss's seem so much heavier and bulkier. That AV is a sweet scope and ER and Eye box are very generous for a 4-12x scope, the glass is superb too! IMO the 4-12x50 AV weighs less and is trimmer than the 3-9x40 Conquest.

Sako, had one--the new zeiss are too short for me on my long actions, the AVs are only a touch better in that respect. I imagine the Zeiss 2.5-10 has slightly more mounting latitude than the new "improved" 3-10 Z3, however.
Mathman--the ER on the 1" VM/V is a non-issue...considering the length of the scope
