a 1951 SC 35 Remington. Good condition, waffle top. Silver under the action , ahead of the lever from carrying. Aftermarket, period correct studs and a 3/4" sling. Picked up some 180 XTPs & some 200 Hornaday 200 RN to load for testing. I want to try some lead 200s later.

Those old 1/2 mag SCs are well balanced rifles. You picked up a true classic. 1951 would mean cut rifling as well. Let us know how it shoots.

"period correct studs." ? Would it have checkering on the stock? Could be an SD. Whichever, nice find and grand caliber.

I'm sure the quick detatch studs on the tube and stock are after market. No checkering on this one. Just an H44... for the serial # wink

I like the look of a short magazine tube on a levergun. I picked up a Sears model 45 in .35 Remington. It's apparently a Marlin 336 made for Sears. I've thought a lot about trimming down the forend and having the magazine tube shortened. Like the rifle pictured above, it has a metal forend cap instead of a band around barrel and forend. I'm just not sure that the shortened mag would look right with the 20" barrel on it.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

It would look just fine. smile

That's a Sporting Carbine - 20" barrel and short mag tube.

Wish they'd reintroduce that model, although they've come close with the new BL model.

Very nice looking. What's the magazine capacity and how much shorter is it than the barrel? Thanks.

That's just a sample picture I got off of gunbroker to show the model.

My .30-30 SC holds at least 5 and I think 6, but to be honest I haven't loaded it to capacity for a while so I forget. Maybe tonight I'll load it up and will report back.

The magazine tube is 14 1/2" long and holds 5 rounds. It is 5" short of the end of the barrel, as the barrel extends into the receiver about 1/2" more than the tube.

Thanks for the information Jim. grin It's appreciated. I've got myself half convinced to shorten the mag tube and I'll definitely be using your info when I decide where to have it cut.

Please take this with the most sincere motives in mind. From someone who has been on the wrong side of an issue like this, it is so much better to come forward and make the time to respond and clear up the ill-will being created. It will seem very difficult to address initially but afterward you will feel much better about yourself and how you handle the issue.

Thank you for your help. This wvhunter/morgancohunter/ David Brice has no intent to answer anything. He has not replied to numerous attempts by other members. He has at least one previous conviction for fraud so I am sure this was his intent from the start. I hope others take up this fight because forums do not need these people.

I picked up a 1952 336 Sc (96%) in 35 rem a few months back. It is of course a waffle top that has not been drilled and tapped and no sling swivels, a true collectors rifle.

I am agonizing over drilling and tapping the rifle.
