Hi,
I've just bought myself a Blaser K95 with barrels in 22 hornet, 6.5x55 and 8x57 IRS and I'm really pleased with the gun and the way that it shoots.
I've encountered a reloading problem with the 8x57 IRS barrel though. The common advice regarding loading the 8x57 IRS cartridge is to use 8x57 IS dies (aka 8mm mauser) and just change the shellholder. This works great with the normal and a bit generous chambers that we often see on these guns. However Blaser has choosen to put CIP minimum chambers on their guns in order to improve the accuracy which in principle is a great idea. The problem is that when I size my cases with full length dies I'm still not able to fit them in the chamber of the gun. Factory fodder and unfired cases fits the chamber fine but not the cases that I've sized using either Forster, Lee or RCBS dies. I've also tried to remove some material from the shellholder in order to get a better fit, but so far without any success.
I used the old trick to apply soot on the case with a candle to localize the problem area and to my surprise it seemd that the problem is the the case body itself! I've tried to attach a picture on the case before and after it went into the chamber:
I think that what I need to do is to have someone make me a custom die using cases shoot in my own gun. Who will make these type of dies?
Any other input on this problem would be very appreciated as I'm starting to get pretty frustrated.
Best regards,
Henrik
