I've been jones-ing for one of these for a while now for hogs and deer in TN, and maybe someday a black bear. Just picked one up from the classifieds with the XS sight set. Looking forward to a little range time.

Throw some Rem 200gr Core Lokts at it and see how things go.

Actually, I planned to give the core lokt's and the lever revolution ammo a try. Based upon the limited selection of factory loads for the 35, I may have to start reloading again. Still have all the stuff, just not a lot of time.

Federal, Rem and Winchester all make 200gr loads, plus Rem offers a 150gr Core Lokt load, or at least they still did a few years ago. Most of these are less expensive than the Hornady stuff, IIRC?

My 336SC shoots the 200gr Core Lokts so well, never did get around to loading for it yet.

I definitely plan on using the 200's and just trying a few to see what the rifle likes.....I'm really looking forward to it. I've had nothing but bolts and single shots for a while and kinda feels like getting back to my roots. Dad tought me how to shoot and hunt with the good old model 94.

There is a ton of great reloading info going on over at the Marlin Forums. Some of those guys have done a lot of load development work with the .35 Remington.

You have picked the perfect rifle and cartridge for Tennessee hog/deer/bear hunting. I have an older Marlin 35 with a Leupold 2-7x28 compact scope mounted very low. It is a true MOA shooter with the Remington and Hornady factory stuff and any number of handloads. I cannot think of one thing I would change about it.

Yep....that's what I was thinking. Not sure if I'll scope it, Steelhead put a set of XS ghost ring sights on it. Guess I'll see how I do at the range with open sights and we'll go from there. If I scope it, I'll do something compact for sure.
