Well it is with mixed emotions I type this thread.

There has been a few things going on around here at home that I need to be more thoughtful/considering to.

It seems that while on these forums I dont spend as much time with my family I should and I need to change things like they are supposed to be.

I have tried to be the best father/husband that I can be but I fail miserably..not just at that but in many things I do.

I have in the past proclaimed my religious views and it seems that I dont always live up to them as a bar is automatically set for me to live to, mostly here on the fire...with that I am even lower than one who doesnt claim faith.

I have cussed and said things I shouldnt have and many have looked at me as a "christian" and I am sure noticed that I dont always act it.

With that I want to apologize to everybody on here that I have locked horns with or said something I shouldnt have. "I AM TRULY SORRY"

I also want to apologize to my LORD for the way I have acted and in life will strive to be a better person.

Forgive me.

I want to thank all my "online friends" for being friends and while it lasted I had a good time.

With that I know many of you have my phone # and would kindly ask if you would please delete it and act as if I never existed..thank you.

Also I will not be replying to this thread and PM's as well so please dont waste your time.

Like I said I will be leaving the fire and I have considered asking Rick to delete my account but I would like to have access to the classifieds as I will look into them every now and again.

Once again I thank you all for a good time and please, please forgive me....

Vaya con Dios my friends Vaya con Dios.

Seems he's been contemplating such a move for some time now.

Dave,
I am thinking Tom bought another giant beaver tag and wants to be prepared for the worst.

Sounds like you're doing the right thing. Family first. Stay focused and reclaim your life, or make it the way you want it to be. Farewell.

Dude! This is supposed to be a site for hunters, shooters, sportsman in general to exchange information and ideas. I CAN'T see how it could possibly be effecting your personal life/relationships in a negative way. Now, if you were spending time on porn sites, or going to strip clubs, I could see you have a valid point.
Whatever you choose to do, good luck to you! -TomT

You can always shape up without shipping out, if you are so inclined.

Tom,

You're making the right choice. I gave up this forum for a time as well. I also quit hardcore fishing to be a better husband and father.

Enjoy life in the real world!

Tom264;
I'm going to reply here with the understanding that your post is on the level. Should this just be a joke, then that's fine too and part of it is on me as well.

As a husband for 28 years and a father for over 15 of those years, I can attest to the fact that family time and responsibilities ebb and flow considerably and in fact continue to be in a fluid state. While everyone handles that differently, I've come to accept that in all probability change will be the only constant in my life and I've eventually taught myself to embrace that fact.

As far as your relationship with God, all of us who believe - or even those who don't really - are on a similar learning curve as to what that means to us today. In all likelihood it will change as we do, hopefully for the better but of course not always.

I'll end with a couple thoughts my late father shared with me.

He said if it wasn't for the bad days, we couldn't recognize the good ones when they came along as we'd have no reference point to do so.

He also told me on a number of occasions, "If you ever stop learning Dwayne, you'd better look around - 'cause you're likely dead!" Then he'd add with a chuckle "Of course some days you're going to find out that you don't want to learn that again." wink

All the best to you and yours Tom, whether you stay or go.

Regards,
Dwayne

I may be reading too much into your post, but you are being very hard on yourself. Maybe a little unfair to yourself also. I would suggest talking to a close friend, minister, or a family member before I wrote myself off as a failure. We all make mistakes and take the wrong direction at times, but that is the learning curve of life. NOTHING IS UNFORGIVABLE, seek help and direction from someone you consider to be wise or informed.

Good luck and Godspeed,
Slim1

Sorry to see you go, but your reasons are perfectly sound and understandable. We could all be a lot more productive if we spent less time BSing here. Be well.
