Was wondering if there are any here that shoot Black Powder Cartridge Rifles? Currently Black Powder Silhouette Competition is the fastest growing shooting game in the country today. Most of it is done with rifles that were popular prior to 1885 such as the Sharps 1874 Model and the Remington Rolling Block action type rifles. For some insight into what this game looks like go to this site for a brief preview: http://www.digisys.net/bayside/personal/quigley/quigley.html

After seeing Quigley this, and Quigley that. You wouldn't say that the movie Quigley Down Under had anything to do with bringing back Black Powder Cartridge Rifles would you. (Grin) just watched the movie again today for the umpteenth time.
For curiosity's sake what do you think the kick is like on that 45/110 compared to say the 450 Marlin.
Phil

Personally....I think it would depend on your build. I have shot some .45/90 loads that were hot...and with my build of 6'0" and 225# I do not find that the recoil is bad whatsoever. BP has more of a shove than the recoil from a large smokeless magnum which is fast and abrupt so I do not think that the recoil from a .45/110 would be to brutal. From the standpoint of accuracy....I believe that all one would ever want would be a .45/90 for long range shooting as it's just very difficult to get the longer cases to perform. The .45/90 case length seems to be about optimum for accuracy but if a fellow wanted the 110.....go for it!
