Folks,
when you have the doyen of Australian Gun Writer's (Nick Harvey) singing the praises of the Marlin X series - they must be good.

One thinng he did recommend " If the gun is shooting well - DONT TOUCH THE BEDDING!!!!!"

Quite afew guys have removed the pressure pads inside the fore end tip - and made the guns shoot worse!!!
If its shooting 1 " to 1 1/2" straight out of the box - leave it.

Goods guns for the $$$

Ihave a model Xs in 308. I have painted the stock, but other than that its totally stock. the first day I went to sight in, I shot a full box (20 shots) into two inches. i was amazed at the cost/benefit of this gun and now for deer hunting, my custom rifles will just stay in the safe.

LOL - isn't that the truth! And it's not a Remington!?!?!?? Swampman may come to his senses yet. Nope - not likely.
But it's a great rifle non the less.

FWIW, I ALSO remove the factory pressure pads, but if the rifle shoots worse without them, I install a soft neoprene O-ring between the barrel and stock within 1" of the end of the forearm. If the rifle shoots better with pressure pads, they always shoot better with the sofe neoprene pressure pad then the hard wood or plastic pads.
