Hi all,
I am in the process of loading some 140 gr Accubonds in 2 different 270 Win. rifles
1 is a Sako A7 the other a TC Venture. I have never loaded any Nosler bullets before.I understand that each gun is different but I am wondering what your experiences have been with Noslers? I know there are no hard and fast rules but how far off the lands are you guys seating them?

As an example Barnes recommends starting at 50 thousands off the lands.Just wondering if peoples experience with the Accubonds has been that they like to be close to the rifling or aways off it.
I am going to WY in a little over a week to hunt mulies and pronghorn. I am trying to save a bit of time in developing a load for these guns:)

The Accubond may be more then I need but I am looking for an all around bullet for my 270s. Mulies, whitetail and possibly elk down the line. I am also taking my 243 with 85 gr TSXs for pronghorn.Thats the plan anyway:)

Thanks for any info guys.

Bill/WI

I currently load accubonds in 16 rifles including 5 270win rifles. What I have found is that there is really no set rule as to what seating depth is best. Some rifles like then close to the lands and others like a jump.

However when I work up a load, if the magazine will allow for it I start about .005-.01 off the lands and get close by varying charge weights, then I play with seating depth for fine tuning.

Based on my experience I really cannot tell you what your rifle will like, but I would start close to the lands and work back. FWIW

I load for 2. A Sako 75 and a Rem 700 Mountain rifle. 140 Accubonds and 58gns of H4831. As far as OAL both like the standard just fine.

The accubonds are very good bullets, but for an all around bullet for the animals you want I would opt for a 150 gr. Nosler partition, as elk are on the agenda, but the partitions work on deer and rabbits as well.

Good choice. I load for two Sako A7s. I use 58gr. H4831SC with the 140 gr. Acc.. Right now I am loading WLR primers. You OAL will be limited to 3.330" due to the magazine dimensions.
I therefore am using 3.300" which is .095" off the lands of the rifle. Excessive? I guess not with less than MOA at 100 and 200 is just at MOA.

Like already mentioned, every rifle is different, but for me the 140 AB's perked quite well fairly close to the lands .010-.015" with a fairly full case of some form of 4831 or RL 22.

Oh yeah, the AB's have killed the elks deers and bears I've used them on very well.

I worked up a load for my 270 with 130gr Accubonds. I was at the point where i had one last batch with different powder loaded up and if it didnt shoot them well, the rifle was getting sold. She pulled through though. I tried 4 different powders and a couple different primers, along with different seating depths. They ended up shooting about .5". Just a couple weeks ago, i tried them in my other 270 just to see how they shot in the different rifle and got same .5"! Guess ill stick with that load for a while!

Mine measures 2.795" at the Ogive for my 140 AB's. I am using 53.5gr RL 17 for 3100 in my 24" barreled NULA/CLR conversion. Mag length allows for slightly longer than that but not much and I was still not on the lands at mag length. Mine is very accurate and is consistently in the .3-4's.
