Im looking at the Marlin 1894 in .45LC. I have a few thousand .451 slugs (misc 230gr) left over from my .45acp supplies. Can they be used at moderate speeds for plinking or will the short driving band pretty much ruin them for accuracy?
Also are they any LBT style slugs to be recommended for feeding? I have few hundred 265 from cast performance as well as some 280s from bear tooth that have been great in my Ruger, would love to use the same ones.

Probably will just have to load up a few and see. If you think they might deform a little, heat 'em up pretty warm and dump 'em in a bucket of cold water. That will help a little.

I'm wondering what kind of accuracy you'll get.
Maybe leading, if they don't bump up enough.
Assuming by "slug" you meant lead.

If you are looking for low velocity fun loads they should work fine. I use the .451� 230-grain lead round nose bullets in my 45 Colt Tauras Thunderbolt rifle and they work fine. I use a light load of Alliant Bullseye and have experienced no leading or accuracy problems. My rifle is a �Q� prefix rifle and it feeds these bullets very well. I crimp the case lightly into the forward drive band.

Thanks again for any help. I use a Lee 200 & 250 grain RNFP mold for my Rossi .45 LC . And around 8 grains of Unique . God bless Wyr
