We hunted in nice country in extremely nice weather. I always enjoy nice weather and pity the folks that need bad weather to kill game. We watched a herd of about 25 head of elk moving on a side hill about 1 mile away. My son said he thought he could get in range, I told him closer to the trail is always better.

He ran into another hunter when a cow elk ran out. Jesse killed the cow, but the other hunter claimed he had hit it first. Jesse let him have it...(the elk) he then walked about 100 yards back to where the other hunter came from and saw 40-50 head of elk, this bull was among them...

I had never heard of mule tape before today, but this stuff is worth it's weight in gold. We had 2 reels of it at 3000 feet/roll. It took one whole roll to get to where the elk was then about 100 yards at a time we pulled it up the hill with the mule tape using the ball hitch on 1 four wheeler to pull 90 degrees up the trail to get the elk out of the bottom.

Then we pulled him down the trail on this nice flatbed trailer for all to see and enjoy...

Congratulations on a very nice bull.

What is "Mule tape" and where do you buy it??

Thanks.

We always use it(Mule Tape). We have a roll that is a mile long. We have one snatch block and a short tow strap. We wrap the strap around a tree and hook the snatch block on it. Then we make a loop in the end of the Mule Tape and slip it over the hitch. Last year in Montana we pulled up two elk at once!!! It was on snow thou and there was a road at the top of the ridge and we used the truck.

Mule Tape is used as a "pull" string to pull wires through conduits. It can purchased at Graybar I know for sure but there are probably others too. It can be purchased in several different strengths up to 6000#!!

Get on google and look for it. We purchased a roll of it for next to nothing. IIRC, less than $300.00 shipped. We are going to braid up halter leads and such with it. I didnt take it hunting, but can see where the stuff would come in very handy.
