I have been looking for a good deal on a 336 to leave at our condo in the NC mountains.
We've had a rather large black bear raiding the garbage cans at night.
Seems everywhere I went they were asking $299-$379 for average looking Marlins.
Stopped in a local pawn shop yesterday and was able to get this for a pawn shop price! ;D
Spent about 2 hours cleaning it up last night.
Added the hammer spur and front sight hood from my parts box.
The bore was dirty but is now pristine.
The bolt is one of the smoothest ones I have ever seen.
I took Hoppes on a white scotchbrite pad to clean away the grime and rust.
The stock has a second coat of Howards Feed & Wax soaking into it.
Other than a few small scratches here and there it's in great shape for a '89 model gun!
I was looking for a pre-CBS but couldn't pass this up and since it is going to be left at the condo and possibly used by others I felt the cross-bolt safety was probably a good idea.

SWEET!!! there wanting 325 and up for a run of the mill used 336 Marlin, pains me but my brother in law bought one back in 1996 I found at the local gun shop for 230, man does it due the job and has for several years, it gets more play than his 270 and 243!!!!
