I bought a used Marlin 336CC(camo stock) about 5 or 6 years ago. Up until today, all I had killed with it was jackrabbits and gophers. I always wanted to kill a deer with it but I hardly ever took it with me because I was afraid I would have a big buck out beyond effective range if I took it with me. This morning I saw a really nice whitetail buck and doe run into some thick brush and trees so I went out about noon after letting them bed down for the day. I snuck along the brush real slow and had deer running out everywhere but couldnt see any of them. I got to an opening in the brush and had a doe run out in front of me at about 50-60 yards. My 336 30-30 came up without thinking about it and shot her on a dead run. She hit the ground and rolled a few times! I hit her high and to far back but broke her back so i quickly finished her off. I was happy to say the least. The ammo I used was 170gr Federal power shocks. This little rifle now has become a favorite in short order. Just handles very nice and fun to shoot! She also leans in the corner of my room and stands guard at night since I live out in a little trailer house by myself. I wish I would have gotten a pic with its first kill but since I was by myself, I couldnt get one. When I bought it, i paid $135 for it and it was in very good shape. With its camo stock, its the only one ive seen like it and it matches my Marlin 925c 22lr!
