Last week I was in a local pawn shop & bought a SAKO A1 factory barrelled action an a Mcmillian SAKO hunter stock with a Mueller 8.5x25 scope. I have acquired 100 SAKO 6mm ppc north american brass, 2# of VihtaVuori N133, 100 Berger 68 gr boat tails and 300 misc under 70gr. 6mm bullets. I'll probably get rid of the big scope & put a Leupold 4x12 on it. Anyone use a SAKO repeater in 6MM PPC? What do you use it for. I'm thinking Crows & Turtles.

Shooting paper and varmints. It will most likely be the most precise gun you've ever fired. Check the twist on it, it's probably a 1-14" twist which pretty well limits you to 70 gr. or less. I have one with a 1-10" twist which stabilizes up to 85 gr. bullets. I'll be using it for mule deer next weekend, 85 gr. Sierra BTHP will work well at 2800 fps I'm sure. I use N133, H335, H322, and BL(c)2, and will be experimenting with the 8208 XBR from IMR.

IF you place a TNT 70gr in a deers lung, or in their neck, it will take them out. First at 200 yds from a 6BR - 3400 mv, the latter was a mere 45, at 3500 in a 243 #1 RSI. Think a PPC will do around 3,200. Small game and varmints are on the menu, but if you can find some 75 gr Barnes (now discontinued) OR GS ( http://www.gsgroup.co.za/orderhpusa.html), and your rifle will stabilize, you will have a load that will penetrate any angle on deer. Think 250 yds, no more than 300 w/precise placement -something a PPC is known for doing well. Congrats and enjoy.

GS customs 62 HVHP shoots great (about 1/2in) from the AI 6PPC sporter I play with and I'd imagine would wreck deer and hogs pretty soundly.
Three shot groups at 200 are around an inch.
The 68 Bergers do not shoot very well from it, but the 65 shoots cloverleafs, as do the smallish V-Maxes, BlitzKings BTs.
An Edge stock would make a nice rifle even nicer.

It will outshoot just about any round you choose to run against it accuracy wise, out to 300 yards. No probblem. 6mm 55g ballistic tips are death to chucks yotes and pretty much any kind of vermin. Case life as long as you dont overload it and give yourself a dose of big primer pockets is double anything in it class. Theres a reason it the dominate BR round since the 1970s.

Impressive, these little 6s perform so well for 2/3's powder in a 243. I went 6BR for the 'over 300yd' performance and heavy bullet performance esp. w/fast twist, but as well as shooters at my range have racked up wins w/BRs and BRX's, one shooter took first once w/a quality built PPC, and even w/light bullets.
Ironically, my buddy begged me for months to come compete in my first ever BR shoot, I won that match, used 70 TNTs and of all things - in RP brass w/dropped not weighed Varget. 4 of 5 into 1.5" at 415yds, the last still in 2-2.5", so those fast light pills can still hang well in the wind to a decent distance. That rifle - my first, was a Pac-Nor 5 groove 12T, 22" straight taper - and VERY heavy, on a 700 w/old style trigger that had a safe reduced pull around 28 oz. At that time, I think I was the first to ever use a BR, most guys used 308s and 22s of sorts. Since then, many realized the pros of the BR. The PPC has/will likely retain dominance in the winner's circle.

Don't try to match Butch's numbers with Sako brass (or Norma brass, for that matter). He's almost certainly using reformed 220 Russian brass, which has more capacity.
My wife shoots my 6PPC as her antelope gun with the 62 gr. HV's. Neat and accurate. HTH, Dutch.

Isn't Sako brass Norma to begin with?
