You didn't fall in the trap.  You're supplying the hypotheses necessary to draw conclusions. My initial post was directed to those who bandy about TF like it's a stand alone metric. The only person here who believes in it is the same person who see's better with one eye closed.

TF is subject to so many other variables determining the quality of the image delivered that it is of little value.The folks I know who often quote the term do so because it is the only level of understanding they possess. Too much reading with little practical experience.

I know of one person with lots of optics experience who recently tried to convince me that TF is very valuable. He even got emotional about me quoting Jim in Idaho.
