Thanks guys,
Lots of great info that I will use.
I know most companies make the "weekend" saws for cheap
And then the Real saw for professionals

for those couple of azz hats who wish to prove their musccels!
com' on over and bring an axe.
At my age the trip to the ER would cost much more than a good saw!

Picked up the Stihl this afternoon. He cut another $10 off. Probably not great at $369, but they put fuel and chain oil in it and cranked it up. They make it look easy. Hopefully it will get the rest of the willows around the pond this weekend.

Butch, what are you putting on the stumps to kill them? Is it okay for the fish and is it effective on the re-growth?

Nice pile of scrap lumber there. Looks like a lot of 2x10 with some pine firewood tossed on top.

For a couple hundred bucks you can go to Home Depot and buy a rental saw. I think they all run Makita (Dolmar in blue)6400's. Plenty of power for a 20/24 inch bar. Several places sell 80cc kits for it for about $150, then ya gots some power!

Or for one tree....just rent the sumbitch!

C'mon guys, why tell him to get an axe or rent a saw? The OP has a perfect excuse/reason to buy a saw, something every red blooded American ma should have in his possession anyway! It aint 'merican to not have one or the know how to use it!

I haul all my lumber scraps home from work. Trouble is, I don't waste 7-10 cords of it a year at the job. Gotta supplement with LOTS of pine......

I still know how to swing an axe. And a maul. But, I got one of these, now...

Use a circular saw on the small stuff.

A few others have mentioned the Stihl MS250 and that's the one I have with a 16" bar. Like you, I don't cut a lot, but it does what I need, and well.

Anything but them damm poulans.
If you are just needing one for a year they might last,I have owned 3 the longest one has worked is 2 1/2 years.
If that company was the only one making saws I would use a axe or crosscut.
I just finished doing a rack of wood.Usually just takes about an hour or so.But NO that damm fine saw decided it would run and when it did not much above an idle.
Yes, the gas was new,the filter was new and the plug was new.
Them poulans are not worth what they charge for them.

Rant off

PS:It took me 4 hours to get the wood cut.
