Want to share my results with my 30-06 Marlin XL7
22" barrel using 168gr TSX with Reloader 17.

Here is my resent ocw test using my 30-06 marlin xl7 rifle using 168gr and reloader 17: I did not run into any pressure signs, I may go higher in charge.

Did some more testing with the 168gr TSX. Ended up using different primers, changed to CCI-BR2 no change to POI. However it was a hotter primer and raise the speed up. I played with bullet seating and I'm pretty happy with the results. Of coarse I want to retest the load and test them at farther distance. My plan is 500 yards max with this combo.

Reloader 17 @ 57.5grs.

Speed:
.546 group
2989
2996
3009

.803"

2979

Those last two groups are great! I've been working with Re17, CCI BR-2, and 168gr TTSX in the 30-06 and the 300 Win mag with great results as well. Lots of velocity, good to great accuracy, and no signs of pressure. If you're going to push out to 500 yards you should look at switching to the TTSX because of its higher BC and better expansion at lower velocities the then TSX.

Update same load at 200 yards. 15 mph winds.

Marlin XL7L 30-06 22" barrel, win brass, 168 gr tsx, cci-br2 primer, Reloader 17 @ 57.5 grs (over max), seated .040" off the lands.

Yeah good stuff.

Just one to add to this, with the Barnes 168 T-TSX in my 30-06.

I use 61 grains Hunter Powder, Norma brass, WLRP.

3/4" groups with the velocity at 2960 fps.

Very consistent.

Nice holes in paper but this is what a 165 grain TSX does to an elk at 90 yds. Best hunting bullet ever made.

That is great velocity running right around 3000. Will other 168's hit that speed or only with the Barnes?

Can't answer for the 30-06 because didn't run them throught the chrony. Off subject-my 378 got 3000 fps with 114 grains when it took 116 grains to attain with regular bullets. I'mnot a math whiz but they do attain higher speeds with same loads -s o you need to buy the Barnes book for the new tables.

Good question, I used 168's Amax and was getting 2960 avg. I plan to try some 168's Berger VLD. So we will see if velocity holds the same as tsx's.

Next to try on some game, thinking pigs....
