Really like the idea of this round. Lot of power in a small package and far more practical than the 5.56 for my area. Anyone using this cartridge on a regular basis? Advice to offer? Appreciate your help on this. Best Wishes

Windwalker, Welcome to the Campfire!
I have a Beowulf. So far it does not shoot like I had hoped. I have had some indications it will shoot great but it is inconsistant so far. I may have had issues with crimping but have not been back out to shoot the rounds I have had loaded for a month or better. I hope to find my problems resolved but have never had problems like this with any other gun so I am concerned. I think I may have one with a bad tube but will give it one more go before I send it back. I have spoke with the owners at Alexander Arms who were nice and informative, so that gives me some hope that one way or another it will shoot before the summer is over. Good luck!
We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

Using the Google search, have reviewed the material available. Most seems to be a rehash of factory info and the firing of a few rounds at bullet proof glass, etc. Nothing by anyone (that I found) using it to hunt with, for instance. As time goes by, perhaps that will change. Best Wishes

I also have one but am like others. I've shot it a bit but have run out of development time. I have a buddy that has one that will shoot 1 inch at 100 but its with Alexander arms ammo. We suspect it might take 4227 powder (IIRC) better than lil gun.
Current ammo I use but have killed nothing with yet..... is lil gun and 325s. Accuracy on the order of 1.5 inches at 100.
I suspect that if you'll first look at what you googled and find a powder that comes close to filling the case you'll be way better off accuracy wise. Full cases have always been more accurate for me.
Not having shot anything yet, I still suspect performance will be good. Starting with a 50 cal hole is a good start. Maybe this fall will tell the tale or if I can find a good flight service and a willing moose in your state in 2006 maybe that will be a test!!
My home email is jcrost at cvtv dot net if you get to working on it some more I"d sure like to swap info out as time goes along.

To the best of my knowlege it is soon to be dead as is the Leightner-Weise, the law suits between the two have pretty much busted them.

Mr. Lee, What law suits? Are you saying the guns will no longer be made? Please explain in more detail. It will be most appreciated. Best Wishes

I am not sure where the rumor started regarding lawsuits between Alexander Arms and Leightner-Weise - but as an insider with Alexander Arms, I can assure you there are no current lawsuits we are involved with. We are increasing production of both the Beowulf and the Grendel rifles and the ammunition.

One of the fellows working for Leightner and Weise went out on his own and started to market the Beowolf, L&W sued for infringment and got an injunction to stop the BW. BUT they are now so strapped they have not produced a L&W in 4 months. We have 6 on order! Meanwhile Bushmaster has picked up on the cartrige and IS supposed to be marketing them.
Then Colt got into it with L&W....................so I do not know for sure what will happen with either caliber.
The fact that the CG has seeminly scrapped the .499 LW due to ammunition reliability and unreliable weapon function the .499LW conversion has been discontinued. G-OCU is currently evaluating more traditional weapons the fill the gap between the M-16 and the M240.

Gentlemen, Mr. John Burke of Alexander Arms sent the following (I have his permission to post it here) on Tue 7 JUN 2005 10:17:21 -0400 :
"Just to clear the record, Alexander Arms, designer and manufacturer of the Beowulf (tm) and Grendel (tm) cartridge and line of weapons and accessories, is not involved in any lawsuits. While we certainly compete with other companies, we are not, nor have we been, involved in any lawsuits with them. The company is in full production, has just put out a new catalog of products and welcome all feed back on our products."
Sounds like good news to me! Am looking forward to using one of their fine weapons on our walks in the bush and around the ol' homestead. Best Wishes

I live very close to where Alexander Arms is located. I have been at the range and have seen the .50 Beowolf being tested. I also found several pieces of brass laying on the ground. I do a lot of competitive shooting in my area and I can say I have not heard about any rumors concernings the demise of Alexander Arms.
I have spoken to several sources, who tested the firearms in my area for LE. Everyone liked the quality and accuracy of the .50 Beowolf. I hope this information helps.

Thanks for the update. I tried to find something on the web and couldn't turn anything up. I'm glad to hear it. I might shoot mine this weekend if I can fit it in between other stuff and the rain we're supposed to get.

I recently saw numerous Alexander Arms items at the local gun show. I will check with a close contact and let you know.
