Gents, what are the diesel prices right now in these areas? Specifically Prince George, Watson Lake & Whitehorse. Thanks

PG and Whitehorse will be right around a Canuck buck per liter, Watson Lake around a dime more.

the west route (hwy 37) is closed due to a fire south of Watson Lake, though that can change day to day.

Speaking of hwy37, and assuming it re-opens in a few weeks, is that somewhat decent running, or is it a curvey goatpath? Looks like about 150 miles shorter than 97 to Watson Lake. Thanks fellas

very good up to Dease lake (km 600 or so) only a couple stretches of gravel. From around Jade City to the Yukon border is is paved/sealcoated but very rough with a lot of construction and repairs.

it's closer to a 60-70 mile difference, and though I always go the west route because I work with placer miners from Dease Lake, the AK highway is more scenic and has better infrastructure along the way.

There is no longer fuel at Meziadin Junction or at the AK Hwy Junction on Hwy 37, in fact I don;t think there is 24 hour fuel anywhere on Hwy 37.

Take the Alkan...........awsome mountains and the best big game country in North America is between Ft St John and Watson Lake. Ft Nelson will screw you on fuel prices because they can but from there to Watson Lake is the best part of the drive before Whitehorse. Watch for buffalo on road though this time of year not to risky due to long day light hours.

There is fuel just one KM West of the junction at Nugget City/Beaver Post, very nice motel, and a great restaurant!

FWIW, and assuming you are driving both ways, I'd highly recommend taking the Alcan one way and the Stewart-Cassiar the other. Both very scenic roads and well worth the drive, IMO.
