So, you are intentionally trolling BS responses and posts, under at least two log-in names, as a result of a dare from another member (who may, or may not, still be here) because you/he thinks that people are rude to new members?

Instead of actually making a comment about someone or several being rude, you've taken THAT tactic of trolling and simply chalk it up to "hey, I don't think anyone else respects this site or it's rules, so I won't either"?

And, you honestly think that was a good approach?

Hell, you posted some rather interesting stuff regarding "tramping around" gear; a certain pack/rifle/knife/axe kit, and a fire steel kit, spring immediately to mind. What happened to that being lost?

So, why be a complete azzhole here?

Change "Mark" to "Big Stick", and you could say the exact same thing.

Yet you constantly defend him.

So, as you say... "What gives"?

Excellent point, and exactly so.

I think you'll find I haven't defended Larry for quite a while.

I would. It's unlike any campfire that I've ever been around. There's too much name callin' and bullsh!t that happens here that wouldn't happen around a campfire. That said, there's still a lot of good stuff here...enough to make most people stay despite the negative things mentioned above. And the notion that fighting over the internet with other fellas that also like to hunt n' shoot, like guns n' knives, camping, hiking, fishing, reloading, etc. "hones skills and toughens character" is kinda funny...and weak, but mostly funny.

You don't do that as "Swampman" on Graybeards.

You certainly don't do that on sites where you have to use your name, like "authentic campaigner".

I doubt seriously as to where you do that at the Florida Reenactors events.

So, why be a complete azzhole here?

If how thing "used to be" here, or how they are on other websites, is to be a metric than may I point out that calling other members out by name was/is forbidden? Something of which you are MOST fond.

Anyway, with Swampy ad far as I can tell from afar, it's a very concious "when in Rome..." thing, combined with an attempt to be a lightning rod and- let's just be honest here- the guy can FISH! grin

And, in fact, it does appear to be at least somewhat serving it's stated purpose (lightning rod). He does keep those busy, who seem to think that jumping people's chit is their entitlement around here.

Such as yourself, Sean.

It's not an entirely unreasonable response to the dynamic at this website, though it makes me sad (sniff, boo hoo) that people can't collectively do a little better than we all do. Oh well. It was a doomed idea to begin with, that people could converse reasonably politely... though we did generally pull it off in the early days of Ye Olde Internet.

It's only gonna get worse, Sean, and you'll be there leading the way if past behavior is a predictor and all that.

The CENTER will hold.

oh, hell.....now we're getting to the point where Jeff wants a big old blue taped group hug and then Sean disses him. I can't watch.

Jeff;

I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire, and your history shows EXACTLY why.

Still, at least you have enough respect for here not to pull the schit that Mark is pulling.

About the only things worse are dragging a person's wife/kids/family into it (VarmintGay manages that frequently), utter vulgarity (Maser... who is THANKFULLY finally gone), racism (gone... mostly), and pornography (mostly gone).

You have a problem with what I say or how I say it, then say so directly.

Passive aggressive, and whatever-the-hell Mark is pulling is just chickenshit.

I kind of like the idea of a campfire.

This isn't it.

Every campfire I've been around, if you did something to just start [bleep] you'd get backhanded off the log you were sitting on. And you best be careful about how quick you get back up.

This idea of trolling is a bunch of internet bullcrap inspired by the anonymity and immunity from back-hands granted by the medium.

Were you actually thinking you were sitting at a log fire with 30000 plus all like minded hunting buddies when you turned on your computer?
