They may work well with a longer barreled pistol. Don't like them for snubbies. Had a 2 1/2" .357 fall out of such a rig. Lucky for me I was standing on a saw dust pile when I looked into the muzzel of my own gun.

While not technically a Yaqui slide, the belt slides sold by Dillon Precision are pretty affordable and you tighten the retention of the gun in holster by cinching down your belt (not necessarily a good thing?):

...when you can add so little leather and add soooo much protection/retention I could never see the point.

I have one of the original Hellweg belt sides that is much like the Yaqui slides but has adjustable retention...have not used it in years...but is was very fast and retained well...
