Saw a guy with a brand new top of the line AR10 in a match rifle once.. dunno how much he spent, I am guessing, including the not cheap iron sights.... close to 4000 bucks...
He had the same problem as above....

I have two Armalite uppers with Armalite barrels. They both shoot very well and I'm happy with the accuracy. The price was right and the availability was excellent. What more can a guy ask for? kwg

He had the same problem as above.... what do you think of the nitriding process as far as accuracy and increasing barrel life? It sounds pretty good of what you read on it.

There was this same process years ago and it seemed ok back then, but it went away. Then came ceramic, and that was ok and went away and then came back as Doug Burche ultra bore coat or whatever its called right now. I use ultra bore coat on every last tube I have currently.
BUT the nitriding can provide a ton of extra coverage over everything... I'm waiting on a backpack rifle to come back and then if I can find the link again see if they'll do the rifle or not.... it has ceracoat or will... so I don't know how that would affect it.
I've talked with only a few folks about this, and I have not heard a negative yet. You might look up Chris F.. he just posted on ARtriggers thread....and PM him and see. He is anal like I used to be about research, but he still shoots where as I doubt I put but maybe a 1000 downrange a year max anymore.... not 10K or more like I used to or when the wife and I each managed to top 20K combined a few years of 223....

FWIW, I have a RR 20" SS bull barreled upper [no flash or comp]and its a tack driver. I am admittedly not a very good rifle shot, but that upper can put 20 rounds [Fiocchi 50gr Vmax] inside a 1" orange dot at 100 yards. I would not be surprised if that upper is capable of 3/8" groups from someone who can shoot.
Dang good for $600. but I don't have anything else to compare it to.

Best upper is the VLTOR VIS and then you can get a good barrel on top of that. I would suggest the Douglas barrel or Hart barrels. I have a Hart running with my VIS.

Have you checked out ar-preformance? He uses a s-carb process for his barrels, which I think is better than nitride. He has a 5.56 with 1/8 twist.
You can specify a mega upper which I feel is one of the best finished and better built uppers out there.
