We used it for bisquits, bread, frying meat, and there was never a full jar. Dad used to spread them on toast, but he died of a heart attack at 68. The fact he smoked two packs a day since a teen is probably coincidental. The nitrates in bacon, used as a preservative, become a carcinogenic substance when cooked. Not a good idea to use it regularly, for sure.

Than the can is hung by wire high in a tree, with some falling to the ground....after some time a "black bear" fines it way into the frezzer. I work harder than a ugly stripper....

Now if you only use it once in a while it might not hurt to refrigerate it. She used the grease for frying potatoes that were to die for. Crispy and has a slight baconny taste to them.
