Looking to buy a nice 22 revolver. Which one? Should I get the ruger single that I love so dear or is there something else out there that might tickle my fancy? Thanks.

I would stick with the Ruger Single Six.

I saw a Taurus 22 Magnum at the flea market yesterday that I really liked the looks of. I did not shoot it or even handle it, just saw it. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

Picked up one of the new S&W model 17s a few months back. I'm only sorry it took me so long. Not cheap, but darn accurate and a hoot to shoot.

Ruger Single Six and S&W M17, 18 are the two to beat.

I am very pleased with my 4 5/8 blued single six, and am a single action fan. If you like a double action, the S&W are great. Before you buy, handle one of each, see which one feels best to you. When you make your choice, get some good leather of the style that suits you, and you'll have a friend for life.

I own a 44 mag sbh and absolutely love the gun. I have handled the single six and it feels great. Pretty sure thats the one for me just wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on another gem.

I would stick with the Ruger Single Six. Why keep looking when you start with the best The conversation pretty well begins and ends with the Single Six and the pre-lock S&W K frames. I have both; there are those two choices and everything else just kind of wishes it were as good. (And yes, I am including the $2K+ Freedom Arms.)
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

If you want single action you can't beat the single six. The sp101 isn't a bad choice either.

own and shoot both the S&W and the Ruger single six. the ruger is reliable and a great plinker but the K22 will definitly outshoot it in formal target work. I used both a 4 inch 17 and a 6" heavy bbl 17 to train new shooters starting out in our Police L bullseye leagues. Others I have used which are just as good as the smith are the colt officer's model match in .22 and the colt diamondback in .22. Both demand high numbers in mint condition but can be sometimes be found reasonable in "shooter" condition.

K22, Model 17, P&R. You won't look back. Every handgun shooter should have one.

everything else just kind of wishes it were as good. Gotta toss the B.S. penalty flag on ya bricky...... Colt New Frontier or Peacemaker don't take a back seat to the single six....

The sp101 isn't a bad choice either. Great revolver. I was fortunate to get a new 4" one before Ruger DC'd it.

I stand by my statement. The Colt offering just didn't have what it took and fell by the wayside. Hell, even some of Colt's other offerings, like the Diamondback, outshined it.
