Any hammer extensions that fit a 1949 SC ??? The ones I have found only go back to '57 and are for a much thinner hammer tang. Just scoped mine, and the hammer clearance is of course now a weeee tight It does shoot nicely with the old Scopechief though. 1'' at 100 with the 30-30 Hornady Leverevolution. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a 1955 Model 336-A on which I'd like to install a hammer extension. Numrich lists part number 299620 with suffixes A through J. What is the difference in these suffixes and how do I know which one will fit my particular rifle?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marlin_Model_336If you scroll down a bit in the article, you will see a list of prefixes. I don't know if they are the ones you need, hopefully so.

Interesting you should ask. I have F and H pre-fixes, and I have two "Williams Auxiliary Hammer Extension", as they're labled on the instruction sheet. They were not on the Willams website when I looked, but I found one on eBay. Quote:
AHE-W for Winchester 95,94,64,55,etc AHE-IJ for Iver Johnson, Stevens and other singles (.335x205) AHE-HRT for Harrington and Richardson Topper AHE-M39 for 39 and 336 Marlin. Also for Savage 24, Due to the fact that Savage 24's have had three or four different designs of hammer widths, we have used the 39 Hammer Extension for the various models. Some of these hammers have to be dressed down in width.
I tried Uncle Mikes, and it wouldn't work on those older rifles. I found one marked "JM" at a gunshow loose on a guys table, it didn't fit the older Ballard rifled guns, but fit on a 1980's era 1894 Marlin.

The hammer on my 336-A, which was made in 1955, is .275" wide. I didn't see anything on the Numrich web page which stated which part number suffix works with which hammer width. I think I'll call Numrich on Tuesday and see if somebody can explain it to me.
